What is 4 En Raya (Set 2)?
4 En Raya or Connect Four has been around forever as a classical two-player strategy game, equally simple to learn and addictive to play. Here, "Set 2" probably implements some fun modifications to the original gameplay dynamics, thus making the game even more appealing to a novice as well as an experienced player. The main scoring criterion remains to connect four tokens vertically, horizontally, or diagonally ahead of your opponent's efforts. This game is full of mental challenges, luck, and a little friendly competition, whose positive energy never would leave a room dry.
How to Play
The game board has a 7x6 grid. On every alternate move, a player drops colored tokens (usually red and yellow) down an empty column. These tokens fall to the lowest available space within that column. The first one to create a four-token line wins; sounds simple. But the game deepens into strategic thinking, as you try to see your opponent's future moves and plan several moves ahead.
Tips & Tricks
- Control the Center: The center columns give you the most options and so should be held onto early in the game.
- Block Your Opponent: Always be aware of what your opponent could do to win and block them.
- Go for Diagonals: Diagonal wins are often harder to block for your opponent.
- Plan Ahead: Think about two to three moves in advance to either win or stop your opponent from "Do it.
History
Connect Four has a long history starting in the 1960s. It was invented by a Canadian game designer John Forbes in 1965, and was initially marketed as "Connect Four." The game made a strong fast appeal due to its simplicity and strategic complexity. Having been played by millions worldwide in classrooms, living rooms, and arenas, the game has also inspired mathematical analysis and algorithmic studies.
