What is After Burner?

After Burner is fast-paced, vertically scrolling shoot 'em up which sends you into the jet cockpit, ready to annihilate waves of airborne enemies and targets on the ground. An arcade experience created by Namco in 1985 that delivers intense action with demanding gameplay, riveted with a thumping soundtrack that keeps your heart pounding. The controls, joystick and buttons, evolved into a notorious combination for precise flying and shooting, and thus ranked among retro-gaming classics and shoot-em-up fans.

How to Play?

Simple but very hard: Survive as long as possible by shooting down enemy planes, avoiding obstacles, collecting power-ups. Glide your machineie: A joystick guides you in moving your fighter from up, down, left, or right, and buttons fire guns, drop bombs-and things.

Very well-known for a high difficulty curve; quick reflexes and strategic thinking are required to get through the levels.

After Burner was one of the pioneering games, getting many players familiar with vertical scrolling shoot 'em ups.
