Caliber 50

What Caliber 50 Is

Caliber 50 describes an unconventional first-person shooting game with extremely frantic action and opportunities for strategic planning-and with an unusual twist: there is absolutely no sound effect! A very special sort of atmosphere is created here, one where everything depends on visual cues. It is very experimental but has some flaws, such as imperfect inputs that hinder aiming and movement to some extent. Yet, it's an exciting ride that will put your skills and wits to completely different tests.

How to Play

You're a great shooter doing his job of carrying out an assortment of objectives thrown at him throughout different stages. Caliber 50 is a first-person-shooter game where the objective is to put an end to your enemies through a variety of firearms. With no sound whatsoever, players must depend on the environmental design and enemy movement as clues upon which to decide when to shoot and where to aim. The game has a combination of both linear and open-ended levels. The objectives range anywhere from eliminating all enemies to defending certain positions.

Tips and Tricks

  • Observe Enemy Patterns: While you can't hear enemy movement, take a moment to watch their behavior. Most enemies have some visual indicators-whether they're reloading, moving, or are about to attack. Look out for these, or else you might be in trouble!
  • Use the Environment: Use the cover from the environment as best as you can. You might be able to use some objects to distract the enemies, while others give you some cover for a little while.
  • Practice Aiming: Aiming is hard because of imperfect input systems. So get some practice in on training levels or non-essential levels to get the feel of your controls.
  • Keep Track of Ammo: With no auditory cues for low ammo, your eyes will need to keep track of ammo inventory and try to reload in the safest of situations.

History

Caliber 50 was conceived and developed by a small indie developer known for his avant-garde approach to game design. This was borne out of the intention to develop a more immersive, yet very challenging shooter forcing the player to use their senses aside from hearing. Originally the game was released as a digital download for the PC platform and has since gained a cult following thanks to its unusual mechanics and the unique mental challenge it posed.

Play Unblocked

Generally, Caliber 50 is not blocked from gamers in any situation, but it may be good to check if your school or your work environment has restrictions on gaming. Should you find the game blocked at school or work, then you may have to use your trusty to get through the barriers, even though this should be done only when permitted by the rules established in your environment.

Game Developer

Caliber 50 was developed by Chicago-based EchoByte Studios-a small but very passionate family of game developers who have developed a penchant for unusual and innovative ideas. The studio's legacy consists of spellbinding, unique experiences that stand out in an extremely crowded market.

Game Platforms

Currently, Caliber 50 is available for PC and Mac. No plans yet exist for mobile, but the platform has been hinted at; hence the future is bright.
