Famidash – Geometry Dash but Made Retro
What is Famidash?
Famidash is a really awesome retro take on the famous music-rhythm based platformer Geometry Dash, rendered on the classic NES platform. Made by an enthusiastic community of fans, the game captures the charm of the original game, giving it a retro makeover in pixelated graphics and authentic 8-bit sounds. It is basically a big, beautiful mother project taking the challenging music-rhythm based gameplay of Geometry Dash and tying it to the NES constraints and charm, giving a very different experience which will excite both lovers of retro gaming and rhythm games.
Gameplay
Famidash is rhythm-based fast-paced platforming where successful completion depends on precise timing. You manage a character to jump, fly, and transform into a ship or UFO and so on through increasingly difficult levels. The design is typically brutal in that if you die, you start all over again from the beginning of the level, and there are absolutely no checkpoints. However, the great bit is that you also have a practice mode to allow you to perfect the levels at your own pace. The levels are filled with obstacles that need clearing in time with the music, truly testing your reflexes and musical sense.
Some tips and tricks
- Practice makes perfect: Make use of practice mode to run through level setups and music before taking the real levels.
- Learn the patterns: Tune into the music and observe the cue patterns to foresee obstacles and execute moves on time.
- Start Small: Build your confidence beginning with easier levels before moving onto more challenging ones.
- Maintain Coolness: Every time that you fail, a deep breath will help with disappointment. That should help to maintain persistence through the game.
- Experiment with transformations: Learning to master the various transformations your character goes through (such as a flying ship or an UFO) may help in some levels.
