What is Area 88?

The 1982 release of Area 88 by Namco is famous for its high-octane air-combat action on a fictional island base amidst war. The player is a pilot who must carry out various missions, shoot down enemy planes, and defend the base. Thinking about it, the pixelated graphics and quite a hard gameplay made it really well-loved among old game lovers, and it has become a must-have in any arcade lobbies nowadays.

How to Play

In Area 88, the player controls a fighter jet to bring down enemy planes and targets from the ground, sometimes even rescuing hostages. The game offers several missions of increasing difficulty.
