What is Puzzle De Pon!?

A colorful and highly addictive puzzle game inspired by the classic game Tetris but with a special twist. Created by Taito, the makers of Bubble Bobble and Space Invaders, this game thrusts together cute visuals, catchy tunes, and straightforward yet tricky gameplay to entertain players for hours on end. The main goal is to clear the screen full of falling blocks by matching colors and making lines that vanish, pretty much like in Tetris but in a much more laid-back and arcade flavor.

How to Play

The game is very simple and fun to play. You control a paddle at the bottom of the screen, using it to bounce a ball upward and hit the blocks. When blocks fall, they create lines of similar colors. A line composed of three or more blocks of the same color disappears and gives you points. As the speed and height of the blocks increase, it becomes more challenging to clear the screen. You need to think fast before the blocks get too crowded.

Tips & Tricks

Watch Out for the Pile-Ups: As the game proceeds, blocks pile up rather quickly. Always keep an eye on the remaining space on the screen.
Match for Four or More: For bigger points and more spacious screen, try to make lines for four or more blocks.
Use the Paddle Intelligently: You can move the paddle right or left so that it bounces the ball in different directions. Use this to target and break blocks that are difficult to get to.
Restart Is Okay: If a situation seems hard, do not hesitate to restart from that level.

History

Puzzle De Pon! was originally released in 1993 and very quickly became one of the favorites in the genre of puzzle games. It was among the earliest games to use Tetris components while turning them into an arcade-style experience suitable for casual as well as hardcore gamers. Over the years, the game has seen various remakes as well as ports to different platforms to perpetuate its legacy.
