What Is Fantastic (Galaga Conversion on Galaxian Hardware)?

Fantastic is a 2D arcade classic, and a new twist on the old, and well-loved Galaxian style of play. Without being able to capture completely the Galaxian feel, it was designed as a Galaxian-hardware conversion with the famous alien invasion motif, along with increased graphics and gameplay elements. This game stands in testimony to the creativity of arcade game craftsmen who wished to advance this space shooter genre but also wished to stick to its basic roots.

Gameplay

In Fantastic, alien invaders attack Earth, and you have to defend it in your ship. The gameplay is simple but differs in that the challenge arises. Move your ship using the joystick, moving left and right, and hold the fire button to shoot the aliens. You need to dodge their laser beams and their ships, and watch out for power-ups that improve your weaponry. There are quite a few levels in the game, each harder and harder, really testing your reflexes and strategy.

Tips & Tricks

Keep on the move: Never stop moving to avoid being targeted by enemy fire. It's impossible to get hit if you are always mobile.
Power-Up: Use power-ups when you really need them, especially in the harder parts.
Priority Target: Bigger or more dangerous enemies should be targets first. This will lessen the opposing force.
Be Patient: Some levels require patience for timing and positioning. Don't rush it; give yourself time to think.
